Local government support from the LCLGRPB for Wind Energy is part of a program from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). The objective of the program is to assist local governments in preparation for wind energy. Wind Energy is a sustainable and clean energy source that will help New York State achieve an agenda item of obtaining 25% of all its energy consumed from renewable resources.

NYSERDA has also developed a wind map that estimates potential wind energy in your area. To see if your community might be a good wind resource please view the map:

Another website to view is the Genessee/Finger Lakes Regional Planning Council (
GFLRPC). The web page include links to local town laws concerning comprehensive plans, planning and zoning issues in regard to wind energy and their facilities.
