Demographics

Population and Age Trends 

The population trends of the region show that the overall population is increasing at a rate significantly lower than state and national trends. State and national 2020 Decennial Census data has been released and are shown below. County and local 2020 Decennial Census population figures will be released in Fall 2021.

Education

According to the U.S. Census American Community Survey 2015 – 2019 five year estimates, an average of 86.8% of the population under 25 years old in the LC-LG Region have a high school degree or higher. Clinton County has the highest percentage with 91.6%, while Hamilton County has the lowest with 74%. The LC-LG Region’s average is lower than the New York State and National averages, which are 88.8% and 87.4%, respectively.

According to the U.S. Census American Community Survey 2015 – 2019 five year estimates, an average of 89.3% of the population over 24 years old in the LC-LG Region have a high school degree or higher. Warren County has the highest percentage with 91.9%, while Hamilton County has the lowest with 77.5%. The LC-LG Region’s average is higher than the New York State and National averages, which are 86.8% and 88%, respectively.
